Reading a license is never fun, so here's one written in plain language. This page explains what you can and can't do with our fonts.

"The font" means the font software itself, the letterforms and designs it contains, any files that come with it, and any updates we give you later. By downloading, installing, or using the font, you agree to these terms.
Your license type is shown on your order confirmation. We offer four:
- Retail — the standard license, for anyone paying full price. Perpetual and fully commercial.
- Trial — free, for evaluating the font before buying. Testing and unpublished mockups only.
- Discounted — for students, nonprofits, and anyone for whom full price is a real hardship. Same rights as Retail, lower price.
- Custom / Exclusive — for commissioned typefaces. Governed by a separate contract, not this document.
Retail and Discounted licenses are non-exclusive and perpetual (transferable only under the conditions in General Terms). We keep ownership of the font itself and reserve all rights not granted in this agreement — you're licensing the font, not buying it outright.
They're also all-inclusive: one license covers every use type in this agreement, so you don't have to figure out which add-ons to buy. Price is based on your company's total size — how many people work there, not how many use the font. See General Terms for what happens if your company grows.
Trial licenses
Trial fonts are free and full-featured so you can properly evaluate them. You can test them internally and mock up unpublished designs, including pitches to a client.
You may not deliver, publish, or ship anything made with a trial font. When you're ready to move forward, buy the appropriate license first.
Discounted licenses
We offer discounted pricing to:
- Currently enrolled students, for any personal or commercial project.
- Registered nonprofits and cultural institutions.
- Anyone for whom the full price is a real financial hardship.
Discounted licenses carry the same rights as Retail — the difference is price, not permissions. We may ask for quick proof of eligibility. If your situation changes later, your existing license still stands, but new purchases should use the appropriate pricing.
General Terms
These rules apply across every use type in this agreement.
Distribution. You may not share, sell, rent, sublicense, or give away the font file to anyone, except as allowed under "Sharing with contractors" below. Don't upload it anywhere unlicensed people could get hold of it.
Modifications. You can modify the font for your own use. Anything you derive from the font remains our property and is covered by this same license, so the distribution rules above apply to modified versions too. If you want a customized version built to your specifications, please reach out and we'll make it for you; commissioning that work from any third-party isn't allowed.
AI training. You may not use the font to train AI models, or feed it into a tool that generates new fonts or lettering in its style.
Sharing with contractors. You can give the font to outside people working on your behalf, for example, a freelance designer, a print vendor, a developer, an agency. No separate license needed. The conditions:
- They're doing the work for you, not for themselves or another client.
- They delete their copy when the work ends.
- Their use counts toward your license, not a separate one.
- You're responsible for making sure they follow these terms.
This doesn't let a contractor use the font for their own projects, or let an agency reuse it across other clients. Each of their own clients needs their own license.
Credit. You don't have to credit us, but we always appreciate it.
License transfer. You can transfer your license to someone else — a new owner of your business, for instance — as long as the new owner agrees to these terms, you delete your copies, and you let us know.
Company size and growth. Your license is priced at your company's size when you buy it, and it stays valid at that size forever. If your company grows afterward, you don't need to report it or upgrade. The one exception: if your company is acquired by or merges into a much larger organization, the new parent needs its own license.
Terms of Print & Desktop Use
- Install the font on your own computers, and on computers used by contractors working on your behalf.
- Use it for print materials, packaging, logos, signage, social media graphics, video, motion graphics, and any other print or desktop use.
- Embed it in PDFs and documents, as long as the settings stop people from extracting or editing the font.
- Keep as many backup copies as you want, as long as no one outside your organization can access them.
- Letterform products for resale — stencils, sticker alphabets, and the like — need a separate license. Ask us.
Terms of Web Use
- Use the font on any number of websites you own or control, in WOFF/WOFF2 formats via @font-face. No limits on traffic, visitors, or domains.
- Host it on your own server or CDN, and take reasonable steps to stop people from downloading the raw font file.
Terms of App & Software Use
- Embed the font in apps, games, and other software you build, to render text for your own users. No add-on license needed.
- Use it in e-books and similar formats.
- The one thing that's off-limits: a tool that lets people without a license use the font to create their own designs. That needs a separate license. The line is whether unlicensed people can use the font to generate their own output.
Finally
No guarantees. We test our fonts, but we can't promise they'll work perfectly in every piece of software or system. We're not liable for damages, lost work, or lost profits resulting from font problems. If something's broken, please let us know. We'll try to fix it, and if we can't, we'll refund you.
Refunds. If you change your mind within 30 days of purchase, delete the font, let us know, and we'll refund your payment.
Ending this agreement. This license doesn't expire — it lasts as long as you follow these terms. You can end it any time by deleting the font and letting us know.
If you break the terms — using the font outside this license, exceeding your license without upgrading, or distributing it where you shouldn't — we can end your license, and you'd need to stop using the font and delete your copies. That said, if the problem is fixable, we'll make a good-faith effort to let you upgrade or correct it first. Ending your license is the last resort, not the first.
Please use it kindly. Don't use the font to typeset hate speech against any person or group. You're also responsible for making sure your use of the font complies with the laws that apply to you.
A few more legal things
- This document, together with your order confirmation, is the complete agreement between us. It replaces anything said earlier that isn't written here.
- If a court finds part of this agreement unenforceable, the rest still stands.
- If your misuse of the font causes someone to bring a claim against us, you cover the reasonable costs that result, including legal fees.
- If we don't enforce a rule right away, we're not giving up the right to enforce it later.
Governing law. This agreement is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there.
